REGISTRATION

Registration is intended to be opened for all PRES members. This course is recommended for rheumatologists or pediatricians with basic experience and special interest in pediatric MSUS. The course has been designed following the recommendations for the content and conduct of European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) musculoskeletal ultrasound courses.

PREREQUISIT FOR TAKING THE INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Admission to the course requires a basic course (certification) and a signed certificate of regular practice in performing ultrasound examinations. Entering test of knowledge and Exit test of knowledge will be performed at the course.

Course description

The course will focus on:

  • Application, indications and limitations of MSUS in paediatric rheumatology

  • Artifacts and pitfalls, Colour and power Doppler physics and technology

  • Application, indications and limitations of colour and power Doppler US

  • Applications of MSUS in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, other rheumatic diseases and differential diagnoses

  • Reporting US findings and diagnosis

  • US-guided periarticular and intra-articular injections

Learning Objectives

  • to update the principles and applications of MSUS in children

  • to update the standardised ultrasound assessment of each musculoskeletal anatomic region in children

  • ultrasound machine handling, setting optimisation and identification of artifacts

  • to learn the use of Colour and power Doppler physics and technology in children

  • to identify pathological MSUS findings in children

  • to document images and to report pathology
